The sun is shining so bright outside. Right now I'm sitting in a hotel in Hawaii while my husband is taking care of the last few things before we move again to another state.
I should be happy, as the hotel sits right on the ocean. The slate blue waters crash against the black lava rocks. A perfect scene for another ocean painting. After all, the ocean has many moods...and it's constant changing appearance can fill a thousand canvases.
But I miss Utah. I've grown to love it during the time my husband and I spent scoping out the town to see if this is a place for us. The mountains are breathtaking, different than Hawaii's lush, tree-covered mountains, but, certainly, no less spectacular. I could paint them for days.
Hawaii is far too expensive...despite the memories of us meeting here, marrying, and starting a family. Perhaps it will become a annual family destination...a week in paradise. We've been lucky to experience it as long as we have, but it's time to move on and see what else is out there...what other beauty will fill my eyes and my paintings.
There is a line in the preview for the new film "The Hobbit" that sticks in my mind: "Home is behind you, but the world is in front of you." Despite the fear of what the future holds, life is an adventure. Enjoy it.
